Context: World Toilet Day was recognized by the United Nations as a day dedicated to raising awareness about the lack of access to safe and clean toilets for 3.5B people worldwide.
The Gates Foundation’s goal is to enable widespread use of safely managed, sustainable sanitation services that contribute to positive health, economic, and gender equality outcomes for the world’s poorest people. They do this by accelerating innovation in non-sewered sanitation technologies to meet the diverse needs of communities around the world.
